Man hammered to death in Dhaka

DHAKA: A man was killed by hitting with hammer in the head allegedly by some unknown miscreants in city’s Paltan area on Monday afternoon (July 24).

The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam, 40, hailed from Meherpur district. He was an alleged human trafficker in profession.

Paltan thana sub-inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman told Banglanews that he was found lying unconscious in front of building in Naya Paltan area. A hammer was found next to his body. Later he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty physician declared him dead on arrival.

His identity was recovered after talking to some of his contacts found in his mobile phone’s memory. Initially we suspect that some one hit him with the hammer on his head and fled the scene. The matter is being investigated, he added.
