Girl commits suicide after failing in HSC exam

CHITTAGONG: A 17-year-old female student committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan after failing in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination in Chittagong.

The deceased was identified as Arpona Chowdhury, daughter of one Bajahari Chowdhury, hailing from Chakhbazar area of Goachibagan Staff Quarter. She sat for HSC examination under City Corporation Mohila College in Enayetbazar.

Earlier on Sunday (July 23) noon, the results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations 2017 were published. 

Confirming the matter, Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police outpost sub-inspector (SI) Alauddin Talukdar told Banglanews that she allegedly committed suicide after the HSC results were published. Family members rushed her to CMCH where duty doctor declared her dead on arrival.
