DHAKA: Adilur Rahman Khan, founder and secretary of the Bangladesh-based human rights organization- Odhikar, was detained by Malaysian immigration police at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Thursday (July 20).
The Odhikar secretary was detained at about 4:00 am local time and barred from entering the country.
Adilur Rahman Khan traveled to Malaysia to join a conference on ‘Abolition of the Death Penalty’ in Kuala Lumpur.
No reasons have been given for his detention.
Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM) informed that the rights activist was moved to immigration lock-up.
Meanwhile, the Suaram condemned the arrest of Adilur Rahman Khan. The rights group urged the authority to release him immediately.
