Contempt rule issued against Land secretary, 4 others

The High Court issued a contempt rule against Land Secretary, Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner (DC), Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and two others for not issuing a new ledger following its earlier order.

The HC bench of Justice M Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das issued the rule on Tuesday (July 18).

The accused were asked in the rule why action won’t be taken against them on charge of court contempt.

Besides, the five people were asked to reply the rule within four weeks.

However, one Abdul Majid from Lalmonirhat filed the petition as a new ledger wasn’t opened for a piece of land adhering with Telipara mouza in Lalmonirhat, following a previous order from High Court.

On Tuesday, Lawyer M Badruddoza Badol and Shahidul Islam moved for Majid at the court.

Badruddoza told reporters that earlier the High Court gave an order to open a new ledger for the land in Lalmonihat in name of 63 people, on November 12, 2009.
