DHAKA: Two workers were killed by toxic gas inhalation while cleaning a water tank in an under construction site in Goithartek area of Gabtali in Dhaka on Tuesday noon (July 11).

The deceased were identified as Ripon Hawladar, 22 and Mahinuddin, 40.

Senior station officer of the Mirpur Zone Fire Service Division Abdullah Al Arefin said the water tank in the building’s basement was sealed for a long time. The two workers fell unconscious as they climbed down to clean it and later died supposedly from inhaling toxic gas concentrated in there.

Darussalam police station officer-in-charge (OC) Sheikh Selimuzzaman said police members reached the stop to inspect. The matter is being investigated.
