BANDARBAN: The death toll rose to four as another one was killed after ‘Chander Gari’, a local human hauler, had fallen into a ditch at Lama upazila Monday (June 26).

Earlier three people were killed and at least 20 others injured The deceased were identified as Jahidul Islam, 15, son of Abdur Rahman, M Sarowar, 12, son of Mohammed Shafi and M Harun, 17, son of Badsha Mia in Alikadam upazila.

Of injured, Md Asad, 40, succumbed to injuries around 7 pm while he was being shifted to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex from Lama Upazila Health Complex.

Sources said that the vehicle plunged into a ditch after losing control when it was en route to Alkadam upazila from Chakaria area of Cox’s Bazar, leaving the passengers critically injured.

Locals rescued them and whisked off to some local private clinics including Chakaria Health Complex.

Later, of the inured, three were declared dead by the on-duty physicians.

However, eight of the injured were shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) as their condition was deteriorating, said Sharmila, a physician at Chakaria Health Complex.
