DHAKA: Authorities of six launches were sued in the cases filed by Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on charge of taking extra passengers defying instructions.

Joint director of BIWTA Naval security and traffic management department Joynal Abedin confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Saturday (June 24).

However, the BIWTA official disagreed to disclose names of the accused launches.

“The launch authorities are being given instructions repeatedly for not taking extra passengers. Cases are being lodged against those violating the instructions.”

BIWTA Naval security and traffic management department director Abu Zafor Hawladar said that cases will be filed against all the launches those defied the instructions.
