DHAKA: Pioneers of Bangladesh Film Industry have demanded for the resignation of Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and declared actor Shakib Khan unwanted.

Influential leaders of 18 film organizations made the call in a press conference at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) in city’s Tejgaon area on Friday (June 23).

Renowned film actors, actresses, producers and directors such as Farukh, Alamgir, Riaz, Misha Sawdagar, Zayed Khan, Dipzal, Rozina, Aunjana, Popi, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Badiul Alam Khakan, Khorshed Alam Khasru among others were present at the event.

At the press conference, leaders told that sensor board has unjustly gave clearance to the two controversial films “Boss-2” and “Nawab” despite so many complaints. The leaders have demanded for Information Minister’s resignation with the view to protect the interest of native film and also sought government’s attention in this matter.

Moreover, they have also declared that from now on any artists from those respected organizations will not work with actor Shakib Khan and producer Abdul Aziz of Jaaz Multimedia.

Actor Riaz said, “I am demanding for Inu’s resignation. Sometimes, we have to take hard stance to protect our film industry.”

Mentioning Sakib Khan, actor Alamgir said, “No more mercy to Shakib Khan. Earlier we have accepted his wrongdoings but his remarks on actor Faruk is absolutely unforgivable. So we are boycotting him. Recently two of his films got clearance but we will reinforce our movement after Eid.”
