NARAYANGANJ: Two people including a police constable were killed and two others injured as passenger bus and a human hauler ‘Leguna’ collided in Maikuli area under Rupganj upazila of the district on Thursday noon (June 22).

The deceased were identified as Police constable Manir Hossain, 33 and Leguna driver Jahangir Mia, 25. 

The injured are identified as Rupganj police station Sub-inspector (SI) AKM Saiduzzaman and Constable Deen Islam.

Rupganj thana officer-in-charge (OC) Ismail Hossain told Banglanews that the accident took place as the Leguna, carrying the police members while patrolling the highway, collided head-on with a bus leaving the duo dead on spot. 

The accident resulted huge traffic congestion on Dhaka-Sylhet highway. Police members are trying to move the vehicle wreckage to clear the road, he added.
