DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina hosted an Iftar party in honor of the noted citizens of the country at her official residence Ganobhaban in the capital city on Wednesday (June 21).
Noted educationists, poets, writers, artists, media personalities, cultural personalities, singers and other noted citizens joined the PM’s Iftar party. Sheikh Hasina’s family members and relatives also joined the function.
Before the Iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking peace, progress and prosperity of the nation. Salvation for the departed souls of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur and other martyrs of August 15 was also sought in the munajat.
Pesh Imam of Baitul Mokarram National Mosque Mufti Maulana Mohiuddin Quashemi conducted the munajat.
Among the noted persons who joined the Iftar party are attorney general Mahbube Alam, emeritus professors Dr Anisuzzaman and Dr Rafiqul Islam, vice chancellor of National University Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid, director general of Bangla Academy Dr Shamsuzzaman Khan, noted film actors Abdur Razzak, Syed Hasan Imam, Riaz and Shami Kaisar, artist Hashem Khan, singers Kumar Bishwajit, Samina Chowdhury and Fahmida Nabi, media personalities Faridur Reza Sagar and Shaikh Siraj, and Dr Kamal Abdun Naser Chowdhury.
Senior Awami League leaders, ministers, some MPs and officials of the Prime Minister Office also attended the function.
