DHAKA: The holy month of Ramadan will begin in Saudi Arabia and other Middle-Eastern countries on Saturday (May 27).

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced the date after the moon sighting committee couldn’t sight moon on Thursday.

Kahleej Times and Gulf Mews said the other countries in the Middle East also announced the same decision.

Along with Saudi Arabia, Ramadan will begin in Kuwait, Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon and Ghana on Saturday.

Moreover, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia and European countries such as France and Belgium start the Ramadan from the same day.

However, Ramadan will start on Sunday (May 28) in Bangladesh as the new moon was not sighted anywhere in the country on Friday.

The decision came from the National Moon Sighting Committee meeting at Islamic Foundation auditorium in city’s Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
