Drug peddler killed in Savar gunfight

SAVAR: A top drug peddler was killed in a gunfight with cops in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital city on early Friday (May 26).

The deceased was identified as Muktar Hossain Mukti, 45, from Meher area of Savar’s Chhotoboli. 

Police sources said that Mukti was arrested on Saturday night (May 25). Later, he was accompanied with police members in a drive to nab drug peddlers in Birulia area of Savar, at early hours of Friday.

At one stage, police retaliated as the terrorists fired upon them.

The gunfight left Mukti killed at the spot, said the sources.
 
Police sources further said that a foreign pistol and three rounds of bullet were recovered in the drive.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for an autopsy. 

Savar Model police station officer-in-charge (OC) SM Kamruzzaman told Banglanews that Mukti was accused in at least 18 cases including human trafficking and drug peddling.
