DHAKA: Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will introduce 900 special buses in Dhaka to ease transportation for home-going people during the holidays of Eid al-Fitr.

Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader made the disclosure while distributing arrears payment-allowances and gratuity cheques among transport workers at a program in city’s Motijheel BRTC Bas depot on Wednesday noon (May 24).

Quader said BRTC will deploy the buses especially for home-goers during Eid. Of the 900 buses, 466 buses will be ready for traveling to any Zila or Upazila of the country while 50 buses will be standby at different terminals in Dhaka.

“Tickets will be sold in advance seven days before the Eid. Special service will continue till three days after the Eid and ticket fares will be fixed by government.”

Quader also said that extra forces will be deployed alongside with traffic police during Eid to minimize traffic jam and ensure passenger security.

He also urged the officials and workers of BRTC to work in unity for the betterment of common people.
