BAHRAIN: Three Bangladeshi nationals were killed as a fire broke out in a two-storied residential building in Muharraq city of Bahraini on Tuesday morning (May 23).

The deceased were identified as Sumon Matbar, son of one Salam Matbar, hailed from Bikinagar area under Jajira thana of Shariatpur district, Harun, son of one Kabir Mia, hailed from Saidpur area under Sitakunda thana of Chittagong and Shaon, son of one Farukh Mia, hailed from Pachbar thana of Madaripur.

Local fire service units initially suspected that the fire originated from short circuit. However, almost all the belongings of 70 residents of the building were burnt in the blaze.

Residents of the building told Banglanews that the fire originated from a room in the ground floor that quickly spread through the building. Many of the residents broke out the windows to flee the blaze while three people living inside of an interior room failed to escape.

On information, Bangladesh Embassy's First Secretary (Labor) Sheikh Towhidul Islam, Public welfare representative Taj Uddin Shikandar, Bahrain CIP Safi Uddin, Awami League President Alauddin Noor, Bangabandhu Foundation President Kayes Ahmed, Jubo League president MA Karim and Abul Bashar of Bangladesh Society visited the spot and distributed relief items among them.

Bangladesh Embassy's First Secretary (Labor) Sheikh Towhidul Islam assured that the victims will be provided with maximum assistance from the Bangladesh government.

He also urged the expatriate Bangladeshis to stand beside the victims of the fire.
