DHAKA: Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the ongoing plan on beautification work of Banani-Airport Road can be revised if necessary, if any suggestion from the Dhaka city mayor concerned is accepted.

Quader made the assertion while talking to reporters after visiting a mobile court at Radisson hotel area in Banani-Airport Road around 11:30 am Tuesday (May 23).

The minister said, “The engineers of Roads and Highways Department (RHD) will follow the reformation if the mayor and others have something to suggest in it.”

“None have ever done this kind of work (beautification) in the past. Do appreciate it”, he said.

The minister said that the beautification at airport road will be followed by all other entrance roadways of Dhaka gradually. And the beautification work will be operated in outsourcing process. 

Under the supervision of RHD, advertising firm ‘Vinyl World Group’ is beautifying the Banani-Airport road stretching six kilometers in length which will be the first ever digitalized green road in the country.

A number of 10 passenger rest camp will be installed in the road. 

With eye-catching greenery in the walkways of both sides, the road will include wi-fi connection, CCTV camera, mobile charging station, digital dustbin, digital traffic sign-plate, bending machine, digital advertisement board, ATM booth, auto road dust cleaner, LED (Light-emitting Diode) street light,  LED ornamental garden light and digital police box.
  
Apart from 12 mountain waterfalls and separate cycle lanes, three monuments with the theme of glorious history of 1952 and 1971 will be constructed in the road.

At least 5.5 lakh trees including of major inland species and Bonsai will contribute for enhancing the greeneries in the road.

Vinyl World Group is financing the whole cost of Tk 90 lakhs in the beautification work.

The advertising farm will also in charge for maintenance the road for next 10 years where it will cost Tk 5 crore each year.
