Mother, son killed in Sylhet road crash

SYLHET: A woman and her son were killed and 10 others injured as a passenger bus capsized at Tamabil point in Gucchagram area of the district on Monday afternoon (May 22).

The deceased were identified as Shilpi Akhtar, wife of Al Amin from Naya Gangerpar village of Goainghat upazila and their son Saif Ahmed.

Of the injured, Shilpi’s husband and another son Sazib Ahmed were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College in a critical condition.

Locals said the accident took place on the Sylhet-Tamabil road around 4:30 pm while a bus from Jaflang (Sylhet, JA 04-0031) overturned after losing control over its steering.

Goainghat police station officer-in-charge (OC) Jahangir Hossain told Banglanews that initial reports suggested that three people were killed. However, deceased Shilpi’s husband is currently undergoing treatment.
