Shab-e-Barat on May 11

DHAKA: The holy Shab-e-Barat, night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed on the night of May 11 as the new moon for the month of Shaban was sighted in the country on Thursday (April 27).

The National Moon Sighting Committee made the decision at a meeting in the Islamic Foundation office at Baitul Mukarram.

So, May 12 will be treated as a national holiday.

Islamic Foundation director (Planning) Lutfar Rahman told Banglanews that the Shaban month of 1438 Hijri will begin on Friday (April 28) as the moon has been sighted in Thursday evening. Shab-e-Barat is observed on the 14th day of this month.
