9 men from Khulna asked to produce before ICT

DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has asked the prison authorities to produce nine people of Dumuria upazila in Khulna, who were earlier arrested in different cases, before the tribunal. 

A two-member tribunal led by Justice M Shahinur Islam passed the order on Sunday (April 23), allowing a prosecution plea seeking the tribunal’s permission to show the people arrested in the case of crimes against humanity during Liberation War in 1971.

The tribunal set July 11 for submitting report against the accused. 

Prosecutor Haider Ali moved for the state. 
 
Police arrested them from Dumuria upazila in Khulna and Dhaka on April 21. Investigation agency of the ICT is conducting probe against them. 

The arrestees are—Abdur Rahim, 68, Shamsur Rahman, 75, Jahan Ali Biswas, 67, M Shahjahan, 68, Karim Sheikh, 68, Abu Bakar Sarder, 67, Rowshan Ali Gazi, 72, Nazer Ali Fokir, 68, and Sohrab Hossain Sarder, 62, hails from different villages of Dumuria upazila.

One Liakat Ali Gazi from Khornia village in the upazila filed cases against them with Dumuria Police Station accusing them for torturing nine people during the Liberation War.
