Municipality councilor held for ‘attacking’ cops

DINAJPUR: Police on Sunday (April 23) detained a municipality councilor of the district in connection with the attack on police while snatching away an accused on Saturday.

Kazi Akbar Hossain Orange, 45, was detained from his residence around 1:30 am.

Police also detained three others—Shafiqul Islam, 22, M Enamul Haque, 36 and M Ekramul Haque, 30, residents of Phulbari Bus stand area, in connection with the same incident.  

Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Redwanur Rahim confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Earlier, on Saturday, a team of police detained a person with hemp from Phulbari Bus stand area in a drive. Suddenly a gang attacked police and tried to take away the accused. 

Four persons including a police member were injured in the incident.
