Operation South Paw ends Anti-militant drive “Operation South Paw” ends

JHENAIDAH: A joint team of law enforcers ended the anti-militant drive “Operation South Paw” conducted at the suspected militant hideout at Porahati village of Jhenaidah sadar upazila Saturday afternoon (April 22).

The team comprising two units of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Rapid Action Battalion and police concluded the operation around 2 pm.

Khuna range deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Md Didar Ahmed told Banglanews that the bomb disposal unit of the CTTC team defused five bombs recovered from the house.

Details about the drive will be disclosed at a press conference in afternoon, he added.

Earlier, law enforcers cordoned off the suspected militant den from Friday evening. The operation was delayed due to rain.

Later, the joint team began the operation on Saturday morning (April 22).
