Daylong transport strike underway in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: A dawn-to-dusk strike, enforced by transport owners and workers protesting an attack on a bus driver, is underway in Rangamati district on Saturday (April 22).

Rangamati district bus-truck owner’s association president M Mohiuddin Selim told Banglanews that a driver Shahadat Hossain came under attack while he was driving a bus in Kutubchhari area around 4 pm on Friday.

Currently, the injured bus driver is undergoing treatment at Rangamati Sadar Hospital, he added.

Transport plying will remain stopped across the district from 6 am to 6 pm on Saturday, he added.

Additional police superintendent (crime) of Rangamati M Safiul Sarwar said that police is investigating the incident.
