CEO among 22 GP men sued

CHITTAGONG: A case was filed against the chief executive officer (CEO) and 21 other officials of the mobile phone operator company Grameenphone for allegedly deceiving customers through text messages (SMS) on offers.

Chittagong Bar association lawyer advocate SHM Habibur Rahman Azad filed the case with the Chittagong metropolitan magistrate Harun-ur-Rashid’s court-4 on Wednesday (March 29). 

The case was filed under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Act 2001, article 66(2)/ 74.
     
The accused officials include - Grameenphone chief executive officer (CEO) Rajeev Sethi, chief human resources officer and director Sharif Ahmed, technical department specialist Manzoor-ud Daulah, Chairman of the Trustee Board of the Fund Md. Shahid, Trustee Board member Mainur Rahman Bhuyian, Mainul Kader, Manzoor-ud Doha, Head of external communication Sayeed Talat Kamal. 

Plaintiff Habibur Rahman’s lawyer advocate Sheikh Iftekhar Saimum Chowdhury told Banglanews that after accepting the case the court had ordered Chittagong city’s EPZ thana police to record case statement as the plaintiff is a resident under the thana.
