RUPGANJ (NARAYANGANJ): A policeman was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Banglaket check-post in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district early Monday (March 27).

The deceased was identified as Constable Mogol Hossain, 50, hailed from Saydabad area under Raipura Thana in Narsingdi upazila and was appointed at Bhulta police outpost.

Bhulta police outpost in-charge Inspector Shahidul Islam told Banglanews that Mogol Hossain signaled a rashly driven pick-up van to stop at check-post but the van ran over him around 3 am, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police are trying to detain the driver and the helper, he added.
