DHAKA: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the people of Bangladesh on their 47th Independence Day celebration on March 26.

Modi posted the greetings in a message in Hindi language from his Sound-cloud account by the name ‘Mann ki baat’ on Sunday around 12:00pm. 

In the messege, he said “Today is March 26, the Independence Day of Bangladesh, a historic day of struggle against injustice, an unprecedented victory day of the people under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. I congratulate the people of Bangladesh on this great day. I wish that Bangladesh will move further ahead towards development. I also speak to the bangladeshi people assuring that India is their strong ally and good friend. Together we will maintain peace in this region.”  

Moreover, Modi also tweeted with greetings. Paying his tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said the friendship between Bangladesh and India is like a North Star.
 
The Indian High Commission to Bangladesh also said that the Indian Premier also wished for prosperity of Bangladesh.
