District committee to reduce case backlog: Minister Law Minister Anisul Huq addresses the DC Conference

DHAKA: Law Minister Anisul Huq on Thursday (July 26) said coordination committees will be formed in the districts to minimize the backlog of cases.

“We have discussed with the DCs about forming district committees to alleviate backlog of cases”

The minister was talking to the reporters at the fifth session of concluding day of DC Conference.

“The coordination committees will include District Judge, DC, Superintendent of Police (SP) and other officials. They will take steps for quick settlement of cases,” added the minister.  

According to him, 40 lakh cases are under trial at present.

The drug abuse cases will be disposed as per the drug prevention act. The existing law can be changed in this regard, added Ansiul Huq.
