Khaleda’s sugar level fell, not mild stroke: AG

DHAKA: Attorney General Mahbubey Alam ruled out BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physicians’ claim, saying she (Khaleda Zia) did not suffer mild stroke, but her sugar level fell.

Mahbubey Alam was talking to reporters at his office on Sunday (June 10).

After meeting their patient (Khaleda Zia) at the Old Central Jail on Nazimuddin Road in Dhaka on Saturday (June 9), her personal physicians told reporters that “She fell from standing, and was senseless for 5-7 minutes in jail on June 5. She might have suffered a mild stroke.”

“On June 5, her sugar level fell right before Iftar,” Attorney General said quoting the Inspector General (IG) of Prisons.

The four doctors  - Professor FM Siddiqui, Professor Syed Wahidur Rahman, Professor Dr. Abdul Kuddus, and Dr. Md. Al Mamun-visited Khaleda Zia in Nazimuddin Road of old Dhaka on Saturday (June 9).

Doctors said, “Khaleda Zia has to be taken to United Hospital soon. All types of treatment are available there.”

Earlier, prison authorities treated Khaleda Zia at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University amid allegations that BNP Chairperson had fell sick in prison.

On February 8, a Dhaka court sentenced five years imprisonment to BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia orphanage Trust graft case.

She was sent to Dhaka central jail following the verdict.
