BARGUNA: A tribunal has awarded life term imprisonment to a man on charge of robbery and attempt to abduct a girl at Bamna upazila in Barguna in 2010.

Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Barguna Md. Julfikar Ali Khan delivered the verdict on Sunday (February 04).

The court fined the lifer Tk. 1, 00000, in default six months more imprisonment. The court also awarded 14 years imprisonment to two others and fined them Tk. 30,000 each.

The life term convicted person is Saif Uddin Rimon, son of Alauddin of Bamna upazila. The two other convicts are- Salahuddin, brother of Saif Uddin Rimon, and Monir Jomadar, son of Nazrul Islam of Dakshin Bhaijora village of the upazila.

According to the case statement, the convicts went to a residence of Hoglapati village of the upazila on February 01 in 2010. They broke the door of the residence and looted cash money. They also tried to abduct a girl of the home. But they failed due to prevention of villagers.
