NETRAKONA: A Netrakona court on Thursday (November 23) awarded death sentence to a man for killing a farmer named Abul Mansur, in Netrakona in 2012.

Judge of District and Sessions Court in Netrakona KM Rasheduzzaman Raza delivered the verdict in absentia.

The convict Rubel Mia is son of Md Helim of Mughalhata village at Atpara upazila in the district.  

The court also fined the convict Tk. 20,000.

According to the case statement, Abul Mansur, a farmer of the same village, was hacked to death by Rubel Mia on October 08 in 2012 over land-related dispute.

Later, Mansur’s father Md Siddik Mia filed a case accusing three people.
