CHITTAGONG: A district court on Sunday (November 12).awarded life imprisonment to a so-called village physician for raping a 12-year-old girl on the pretext of treatment in Chittagong.    

Judge Motahar Ali of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 in Chittagong also fined him Tk 50,000, in default, six more months of imprisonment.  

The convict was identified as Phul Miah, 48, locally known as Kaviraj or Vaidya, son of late Dud Miah, hailed from Muradnagar upazila of Comilla. His den was located in Chandranagar area of Bayazid Bastami of Chittagong.

Public Prosecutor (PP) MA Naser of the tribunal told Banglanews that the convict was arrest over the incident.

Later, he fled way after getting bail from the High Court.
 
Advocate Vivekananda Chowdhury, the plaintiff's lawyer, told Banglanews that a family approached Phul Miah with a minor girl for treatment in 2008. He then raped the girl claiming it as a part of the treatment. 

Later, the victim’s father lodged a file against the rapist in Bayazid Bastami police staton.
