CJ returns home

DHAKA: Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha returned to Dhaka after wrapping up his 16-day visit in Canada and Japan.

He arrived here in a flight of Singapore Airlines at around 10:40pm Saturday (September 23), leaving Japan.

Mohammad Anisur Rahman, a secretary to the CJ, confirmed the news.

On September 8, the CJ left Dhaka for Canada to visit his ailing daughter there.

Afterwards, he flew to Japan to attend a conference of chief justices of Asia and the Pacific.

Justice Md. Abdul Wahhab Miah, a senior judge of the Appellate Division, served the duties of CJ in the time of his absence.

However, earlier, the Administrative department of the Appellate Division of Supreme Court issued an order acknowledging the CJ’s visit to Canada and Japan.
