CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court on Monday (August 07) awarded life term imprisonment to a man and a woman for killing a CNG auto-rickshaw driver at Chauddagram upazila in Comilla in 2008.

The court also fined the convicts Tk. 10, 000 each, in default, six months more imprisonment.

Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahe Noor delivered the verdict.

The convicts are- Sufia Akhter Priya, wife of CNG driver Iqbal Hossain, and Mizan, brother-in-law of the driver. They are on the run.

According to the case statement, Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan, son of late Yusuf Hossain Bhuiyan of Dhupakhiler area of Chauddagram upazila was strangled to death on November 3 in 2008. Priya and Mizan killed him.

Later, Ekram Hossain, brother of Iqbal, filed a case in this connection.
