Ex LGED engr jailed for embezzling money

COMILLA: A former engineer of LGED in Comilla was sentenced to ten year’s imprisonment by a Comilla court on Wednesday (July 05) for embezzling Tk. 39 from government fund.

Judge of Comilla’s Special Judge Court Md Ismail Hossain delivered the verdict in presence of the convict. The court also fined the convict Tk. one lakh.

The engineer is Harunur Rashid, son of Belayet Hossain Khan of Char Bijli village of Muladi upazila in Barisal. He was executive engineer of Comilla LGED.

Harunur Rashid embezzled Tk. 39 lakh from the fees collected for constructing LGED Laboratory in Comilla.

Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Jahangir Alam filed a case in this connection with Comilla Kotwali model police station on August 22 in 2013.
