Rangpur now City Corporation

DHAKA: Rangpur district municipal town becomes City Corporation following a government declaration, giving another stroke of upgrading to civic life in the country.

The New City Corporation started running its activities on Sunday.

The Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Ministry through a gazette notification announced the district headquarters as City Corporation on June 28.

Secretary for LGRD Abu Alam Shahid Khan confirmed this to banglanews on Sunday.

Earlier on the last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the ruling Awami League President, at a meeting of ECNEC asked for special budget allocation for Rangpur City Corporation.

Earlier, people of Rangpur have observed continuous strikes demanding the declaration of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC).
