Hartal in Rangpur Sunday

RANGPUR: Jatiya Party backed Rangpur City Corporation Andolon Parishad called dawn-to-dusk hartal for Sunday in the demanding declaration the district as City Corporation.

JP leaders and activists bought out demonstration procession in favour of the hartal on Saturday afternoon. Later, they staged rally on Shapla Chattar.

JP presidium member and former MP Mashiur Rahman Ranga, Rangpur municipality mayor Abdur Rauf Manik, Sadar Upazila chairman Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa and president of Juba Sanghati SM Yasir addressed the rally.

Rangpur City Corporation Andolon Parishad has exchanged views with the leaders of opposition BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and other organizations for supporting the hartal.

Convener of Rangpur City Corporation Andolon Parishad Mashiur Rahman Ranga told banglanews that every institution, including municipality market will remain closed on Sunday’s hartal.

He said, “We have called the hartal as Rangpur City Corporation has not been implemented yet as per the Prime Minister’s pledge.”
