SANGSAD BHABAN: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wednesday categorically said the traffic-jam of the city has turned into a serious condition.
The leader of the House came up with the concern while addressing parliament in response to a question made by lawmaker Nasimul Alam Chowdhury in the question-hour.
The utility services are declining gradually due to extra pressure of city population, she also observed.
The premier also apprised House that the planning commission did not make any particular plan to prevent the Dhaka-bound mass influx.
She, however, added that the five-year plan taken by the incumbent government has identified the urbanization problem as one of the ten major concerns.
Some 13 percent of the country’s total population will reside in Dhaka by 2015 which is now 10 percent, she predicted.
Replying to another question from Faridun Nahar Laily MP, the Awami League president said, “Necessary steps have been taken to modernize ‘Bangladesh Labour Act-2006’, which will be finalized soon.
