COX’S BAZAR: At least 55 Bangladeshi businessmen were entrapped in Mongdu City of Myanmar following a riot between Buddhist Rakhain and Muslim Rohingya.
Sources could not confirm whether they are under NASAKA force’s custody.
The trapped went Myanmar for business purpose but the riot among the Buddhist Rakhain, Muslim Rohingya and law enforcement agency turned violence in the city on Friday and Saturday, Myanmar sources said.
Administration imposed Curfew in the city which halted all types of transits between Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Immigration officer Abdul Kader told banglanews, the upper authorities have been informed about the matter.
He also said water transport clogged as NASAKA blockaded the naval route. We are trying to do the best to salvage them as soon as possible.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 42 Battalion commander lt col Jahid told banglanews, BGB surveillance and patrol increased at Teknaf frontier that area after the riot.
