40 injured in B’Baria clash

BRAHMANBARIA: At least 40 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over sitting on an Eidgah Maidan at Ghagrajor village under Sarail upazila of the district Monday.

The injured were admitted to Sarail Upazila Health Complex and District Sadar Hospital.

Quoting witness, police said supporters of Tayeb Ali and Abdur Rahsid locked into a two-hour long clash from 10:00am at the Eid jamaat following an altercation over sitting of the children, leaving 40 people injured from both sides.

On information, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) along with Sarail Thana police rushed in and took the situation under control.

Around 10 to 12 houses and a poultry farm were vandalized and looted during the clash, sources said.

Officer-in-Charge of Sarail Thana Gias Uddin told banglanews that police forces were deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation.
