Azad against tobacco product ads

DHAKA : Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad Thursday urged country’s mass media not to publish or broadcast the advertisements of tobacco or smoking products.

He came up with the request while addressing a discussion meeting on ‘Stop interference of tobacco companies’ organized by ‘Manash’ in the city’s public Library around 10:30am.

The Minister said, “We have to create awareness among mass people against consuming tobacco products. Especially, the youths should be informed about the harmful sides of having these products. ”

Amongst the others, Baby Moudud MP and Media person Nawaziz Ali Khan spoke in the programme with Manash president Dr Arup Ratan Chowdhury in the chair.
