50 vehicles stolen a day in city

DHAKA: A number of 35 gangs are involved in stealing around 50 vehicles, including private cars, CNG-run auto-rickshaws and motorbikes in the city and the surrounding area.

As per the Dhaka City Detective Branch police, around 3000 vehicles were stolen in last three years while only 700 were recovered and some 400 persons were held in this connection.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch Police deputy-commissioner south Monirul Islam told banglanews that the tendency of stealing vehicle has been reduced due to the anti-vehicle-thief team tricks.

Monirul also advised to set anti-thief devices to avert vehicle stealing.
