10 journos blacklisted at Press Club

DHAKA: Some 10 journalists of ATN Bangla have been blacklisted at the National Press Club for their involvement in an attack on a rally organized for demanding trial of murderer of journalist couple Sagar-Runi.

Apart from this, the membership of Chief News Editor of ATN Bangla Bhanu Ranjan Chakraborty at the press club was suspended.

The decision came from an executive committee of the National Press Club, said a press release Wednesday.

The journalists are Head of News of ATN Bangla JE Mamun, Special Correspondent Sawkat Milton, Keramat Ullah Biplob, Manash Ghosh, Nadira Kiran, Mahmudur Rahman, Senior Reporter SM Babu, Mahfuz Rahman Mishu and staff reporter of the daily Bhorer Kagaj Shamim Ahmad.

On June 24, some nine journalists, including JE Mamun, of ATN Bangla were expelled from all the journalists’ organizations for their involvement in an attack on a rally.

The decision came from a meeting of the leaders of National Press Club, Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU).

On June 28, the journalists were expelled from Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.
