DHAKA: Ruling Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif Wednesday called upon the opposition parties including BNP to accept Prime Minister’s proposal of interim government for the sake the country and democracy.
The AL leader came up with the urge while addressing at a pre mourning rally meeting organized by Jatiya Sramik League in front of the party office at Bangabandhu Avenue.
“Join the parliament and discuss about forming interim government as per the premier’s proposal instead of hampering development works,” said Hanif.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made proposal for forming an interim cabinet at an exclusive interview with BBC’s HARDtalk during her five-day London visit to attend the inaugural ceremony of London Olympics 2012.
Hanif said the AL government is trying to make the country prosperous through accomplishing the trial of Bangabandhu’s killers.
“The government is determined to build a hunger and poverty free ‘Sonar-Bangla’ dreamt by Bangabandhu by turning the grief of the eternal loss of Bangabandhu into strength,” he added.
Among others, Awami League’s Labour and Manpower Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj, former president of Sramik League Abdus Salam and incumbent general secretary Sirajul Islam addressed at the meeting.
Jatiya Sramik League will pay tribute to Bangabandhu’s grave at Tungipara on August 5 and hold a mourning meeting on August 29.
