Man beaten to death in city

DHAKA: An elderly man was beaten to death by his rivals in city’s Mehedibagh area under Adabar thana on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Ratan Mia, 70, hailed from Manikganj district.

Adabar thana SI Abdur Rahim said, “Ratan Mia had an altercation with his neighbor Abu Sarkar on Monday night. Centering the issue, Abu Sarker along with his men attacked Ratan on Tuesday morning and beat him to death on the spot.”

“On information, police rushed in and held two persons,” he added.

Later, Ratan’s wife filed a murder case against 10 people in this connection.
