JAMALPUR: Pointing out the development initiatives of Awami League, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina categorically said Awami League means development of the country in all respects.
The premier, also ruling Awami League president, also claimed that BNP means terrorism, militancy, corruption and money-laundering.
The premier came up with the observation while inaugurating much-waited rail line connecting east side of the Bangabandhu Bridge (BB) with Tarakandi under Sharishabari Thana of the district Saturday.
She said, “Awami League after coming to power in 1996 took all initiatives to remove the barriers to construction of Bangabandhu Bridge on the Jamuna River making it into a multipurpose one.”
“The project for connecting Bangabandhu Bridge (East) side with Tarakandi rail route was taken to reach the benefit of the bridge to the people of the region,” she said.
But, the next government stopped the work as they did in case of many other projects including community clinics taken by us for development and welfare of the people, she added.
She urged the people to lend support to her party for another time to complete the unfinished development works of the present government and build a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day, after 13 years of inauguration of construction Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally opened the 40.20- kilometer rail route the construction connecting east side of the Bangabandhu Bridge (BB) with Tarakandi of which began during her government past tenure in 1999.
The rail route linking Mymensingh and a number of country`s northern and eastern districts would help carrying fertilizer from Jamuna Fertilizer Factory, agricultural goods as well as easing communications with Dhaka.
