DHAKA: Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr M Abdur Razzak categorically said that the incumbent government has become quite successful in country’s safe water and sanitation.
“But due to natural disasters success in some areas has been broken down,” he added.
The minister came up with the observation Wednesday while addressing a workshop in LGED auditorium in city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.
Abdur Razzak said, “Insufficient sanitation system has become reason of 6.3 percent loss of annual economic growth and we have become successful in lessening the loss.”
We have realized about our water and sanitation problem in coastal area from recent cyclone Aila and Sidr, he added.
With Ahsania Mission ED Dr M Ehsanur Rahman in the chair, the workshop was also addressed, among others, by secretary of the ministry Dr M Aslam Alam and First Secretary of EU Delegation to Bangladesh Koen Duchateau.
