2 bank accounts for donations

DHAKA: Cabinet on Monday approves opening of two bank accounts to collect donations in a bid to construct the much-talked-about Padma Multipurpose Bridge with local fund.

Of the accounts, one will be opened for collecting funds from local while another for foreign funds as part of initiatives to construct the bridge with own fund.

The approval came from a regular cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Monday.

Emerging from the meeting, Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told journalists, “Finance Department will formulate rules and regulations to maintain the two accounts. All walks of country people from home and abroad will deposit fund in the accounts.”

The cabinet members also will donate their one month`s salary to the Padma bridge fund, he added.
