DHAKA: A 2011 American science fiction drama film ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ hits Star Cineplex in Basundhara City on Panthapath in Dhaka.
The film, directed by Rupert Wyatt, was premiered at the city cinema Thursday evening.
Starring James Franco and Andy Serkis, the film is scheduled to be screened at 11:00am, 1:05pm, 3:10pm, 5:20pm, and 7:30pm from Friday.
It is 20th Century Fox’s reboot of the Planet of the Apes series, intended to act as an origin story for a new series of films.
Its premise is similar to the fourth film in the original series, ‘Conquest of the Planet of the Apes’ (1972), but it is not a direct remake in that it does not fit into that series’ continuity, says Wikipedia.
Following its release on August 5 in 2011, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ earned a critical and commercial success.
It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
About the screening of the film Star Cineplex’s manager (media and marketing division) Mesbah Uddin Ahmed told banglanews24.com, ‘We hope the film will meet the thirst of the moviegoers in the country’.
He also hoped that the film would get a success in the country as it had in other countries.
