Youth held with beer in Noakhali

NOAKHALI:  Police recovered 90 cans of beer and arrested a youth from Chatkhil Municipal area of the district on Friday night.  

The detainee was identified as Md. Jahir, 27, son of Shirajul Islam of Shondalpur village in Chatkhil Municipal area.

Chatkhil Thana sources said acting on tip off, SI Shafiqul Islam conducted drive at a shop in Chatkhil area and held Jahir around 8pm.

According to the information given by Jahir, police recovered 90 cans of beer in three cartons from the shop.

Chatkhil Thana OC Nazmul Hoque told banglanews, “Jahir is a known drug peddler of the area and we have been trying to arrest him for long time.”

The process of case filing is underway against him under the Narcotics Control Act, he said.
