Dhk Transport Coordination Authority (Amend) Bill passed

SANGSAD BHABAN: Jatiya Sangsad Tuesday passed the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (Amendment) Bill-2012 to expunge the errors from the existing act.

Communications Minister Obaidul Quader placed the bill with a proposal for amendments to the existing Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority Act 2012.

In the new bill, a proposal was made to incorporate clause 23 and 24 for scrapping the Dhaka Transport Coordination Board and the Dhaka Transport Coordination Board Act, 2001.

Earlier On February 8, the act had been passed by parliament to make the city`s transport system a modern, planned and coordinated one, according to the minister.

But two clauses necessary to be included in the act had been left out.

The selection committee regarding the bill discarded the public opinion assortment and amendment proposal.

On June 12, Communications Minister placed the bill in parliament.

Later, it was sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Communications Ministry for vetting.
