COX’S BAZAR: Some eight Bangladeshis out of 55, who were entrapped in Mongdu City of Myanmar following a riot between Buddhist Rakhain and Muslim Rohingya, have not yet returned home.
Earlier on Monday, some 39 Bangladeshi businessmen returned home.
Besides, eight businessmen returned on Tuesday.
Emigration in-charge of Teknaf landport Quader Siddiqui said, “The eight Bangladeshis could not return because Myanmar government has closed the water way. But they might reach anytime.”
He said, “Around 47 Bangladeshis out of 55, who were entrapped in riot returned home in two days.”
He added, around 10 businessmen out of 271, from different countries returned to their respective homelands on Sunday afternoon and the others will also be sent soon.
Earlier, at least 55 Bangladeshi businessmen were entrapped in Mongdu City of Myanmar following a riot between Buddhist Rakhain and Muslim Rohingya.
The trapped went Myanmar for business purpose but the riot among the Buddhist Rakhain, Muslim Rohingya and law enforcement agency turned violence in the city on Friday and Saturday, Myanmar sources said.
Administration imposed curfew in the city which halted all types of transits between Bangladesh and Myanmar.
