Stocks bounce back after 6-day

DHAKA: Investors witnessed moderate gain in the benchmark indices of country’s bourses on Wednesday after the sixth straight trading days.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index rose over 68 points to stand at 4,700 at the close on the day trading.

The volume of transactions, however, tumbled to Tk 1872 million from Tuesday’s Tk 2,359 million. Trade deals stood at 60,409 against the previous day’s 74, 243.

Of the issues traded, 220 advanced, 25 declined and 14 remained unchanged.

GP topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 77 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were LANKABAFIN, CITYBANK, LAFSURCEML, JAMUNAOIL, MPETROLEUM, BEXIMCO, FLEASEINT, PADMAOIL and PLFSL.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing up to 8,938 by gaining over 104 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 141 gained, 26 declined and 8 remained unchanged.

On Tuesday, the benchmark indices of DSE and CSE shed 14 and 20 points respectively.
